Dr. Gussenhoven moved to the North State in 1986 from the Bay Area. Having worn glasses since the age of 2, she spent a lot of time with eye care providers over the years and became interested in Optometry. During her time in Optometry School, she had internships in all areas of primary care optometry and hospital-based optometry at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Portland, Oregon, the Pediatric Strabismus Referral Center in Beaverton, Oregon (specializing in strabismus for children and adults as well as traumatic brain injury) and outpatient clinics throughout the Portland area. She has worked as a consultant for the Veteran’s Outpatient Eye Clinic in Redding.

She is a member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association, and the Golden Empire Optometric Society and licensed to practice optometry in California, Oregon, and Washington States.
