Dr. Gussenhoven

Determined to Provide the Best Possible Care

Dr. Gussenhoven moved to the North State in 1986 from the Bay Area. Having worn glasses since the age of 2, she spent a lot of time with eye care providers over the years and became interested in Optometry. She was determined to provide the best possible care for her patients in a friendly atmosphere, making the experience pleasant and informative.
Dr. Gussenhoven received her BS Degree with Honors in Visual Science from Pacific University and her Doctorate of Optometry Degree with Distinction from Pacific University’s College of Optometry.
During her time in Optometry School, she had internships in all areas of primary care optometry and hospital-based optometry at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Portland, Oregon, the Pediatric Strabismus Referral Center in Beaverton, Oregon (specializing in strabismus for children and adults as well as traumatic brain injury) and outpatient clinics throughout the Portland area. She has worked as a consultant for the Veteran’s Outpatient Eye Clinic in Redding.
She is a member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association, and the Golden Empire Optometric Society and licensed to practice optometry in California, Oregon, and Washington States.
Dr. Gussenhoven is active in the community as a member of the Redding Chamber of Commerce where she was nominated for the Hall of Excellence Award in 2013. She has been a Rotarian in the Rotary Club of Redding since 2006, chairing the Job Shadow Committee and has been twice awarded Rotarian of the Quarter.
She proudly serves on the Shasta Library Foundation Board and is one of the Funding Families for Turtle Bay Exploration Park. She has been a guest speaker for AAUW’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Conference, a Patron for Shasta High School’s Madrigal Dinner, and a table sponsor for the Soroptimist International Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon.
In her spare time, she enjoys working out, target shooting, boating, walking the River Trail, playing with her dog Mylah, a rescue from Pets Without Partners, and cooking for her children on their visits home.
